The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the head of Audu Ogbe reiterated the need to increase food production to meet the needs, especially in Africa.
Chief Ogbe spoke at the ongoing Global Group of Ministers of Agriculture and delegates at the 20th edition of the Russian agribusiness forum and the Golden Autumn 2018 agricultural exhibition in Moscow.
Chief Audu Ogbe, who is the only minister of agriculture invited from Africa by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agriculture of Russia, participates together with ministers of agriculture from Turkey, Japan, Hungary, Serbia and Qatar.
The forum, dedicated to the theme “Agricultural exports as a driving force for industrial modernization”, was declared open by the Prime Minister, the Federation of Russia, by Dmitry Medvedev and attracted participants in all agricultural sub-sectors from around the world.
“Africa is the smallest polluter in the world, but most of all suffering from the effects of climate change, the dessert is approaching at a very high speed. We need afforestation, seeds of good quality, mechanization and other research. ”
Chief Ogbe also spoke about Aggro's export potential in Nigeria and the country's ability to produce and export to other countries around the world, such products as cocoa, coffee, cashew, castor oil, sesame seeds, brown beans; and fruits, such as mango, banana and dad, etc.
“The reason we come to these meetings is because we believe that politics should be removed, as far as possible, from food production, because the biggest victims of hunger are children and the very poor in rural areas that are few what they know about international politics.
"Therefore, we are here to explore opportunities with Russia in the exchange of food trade, skills and mechanisms for the general promotion and nutrition of mankind," the minister said.
On the sides of the Nigerian-Russian Agricultural Trade Visit, Hon. The Minister, Chief Audu Ogbe, went on a tour of the exhibition grounds of the Agro Salon 2018.
The exhibition is the world's largest specialized agricultural mechanization Expo, where leading manufacturers of agricultural equipment fall under one roof to demonstrate modern agricultural equipment, new technologies, future strategies and practices in the agricultural business and test self-propelled machinery produced by leading manufacturers of agricultural equipment.
The head of Ogbe also visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Agriculture of Russia to hold a bilateral meeting on strengthening relations between Nigeria and Russia in agriculture.
