NDE Trains 50 Youths in Agriculture in Kwara

The National Directorate of Employment has trained 50 youths in Kwara State in sustainable farming meant to retain them in rural areas of the state.

The state coordinator of NDE, Mr Gabriel Adeyemo, said the youths received three months training in arable farming, poultry, snail and piggery farming.

Speaking at the completion of the training programme under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme of NDE, Adeyemo said the trainees attended courses in theory and practice with biases on how to be self-employed and market inclined.

He said the directorate in order to create good awareness among the people of the state had collaborated with the state, local and community-based organisations for their youths participation in different schemes designed for them by the Federal Government.

Adeyemo said the NDE would soon begin another three months orientation training for another batch in sustainable agricultural development.

In his address, the Director-General of NDE, Dr Nasiru Argungu urged the youths in the country to key into the programmes organized by the Federal Government to bail them out of unemployment.
