Cassava, a value-added for Africa (CAVA) II, donated a burning plant for the amount of N16 million. To Oi State Agricultural University (OYSCATECH), Igbura.
The vice-rector of the college, Professor Gbemiga Adawel, said that the donation was provided by the project coordinator of the CAVA II project, Professor Latef Sunny, who doubles as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the college.
Adavale said: “Upon assuming the office of Chairman of the College’s Board of Governors, Professor Sunny used his good office to bring this commendable project to the institution. In addition to this, the college was able to register OYSCATECH Ventures Limited and OYSCATECH Consult as part of efforts to improve the college’s internal income (IGR).
“We are really grateful to Professor Sunny for his commitment and efforts to improve the institution’s internal income.”
Adewale said that the work is still ongoing at the Garri factory, while the machines and other equipment designed for this were delivered to the institution.
“Garri’s processing plant will soon be commissioned by Oyo Governor, Senator Abiola Adjimoby, where he will be assisted by Chairman of the Board of Governors, Professor Sunny and Director of CAVA II, Professor Adebayo,” added Provost.
In his remarks, Professor Sunny said that the factory would help the college become a major producer of OYSCATECH Garri.
