Agriculture is vehicle to economy development, says Ambode, others

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinvumi Ambode, explained that the development of agriculture remains the only way to manage the economy of the country, as well as create jobs for unemployed young people.

The Governor said this at the 39th Annual General Meeting and the 19th International Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Land Surveyors. He was represented by the state permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Olayivola Onasanya, who gave a lecture "Eko 2018" in Oshodi, Lagos. In another development of Governor Jibrila Bindou of Adamava State and his colleagues from the State of Lagos, Mr. Ambode and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Director General (DG) of the Federal Institute for Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), Professor Gloria Elemo, received special awards from the association for their contribution to the development of agriculture.

Ambode said: "The Lagos state government is actively cooperating with other countries, for example, Kebbi states among others, including the federal government to ensure foodstuff resistance in the state," he said.

The National Association Chairman, Dr. Shuaibu Musa, said that this event was the key to the efforts of the federal government to diversify the economy from a mono-profit economy to a multi-income economy. "Dependence on oil revenues as mono income brought more harm than good to the economy of the country. However, the government seems to be making progress in diversifying the economy.
