Again, Gunmen Storm Lagos Farm, Kidnap 7

Gunmen clad in military camouflage, yesterday, struck again in a farm at Igbodu area of Epe, Lagos State, abducting seven persons.

The victims are two private guards, said to be members of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, and five farm workers at Eliasa Farm. As at 7p.m. yesterday, only four of the victims were identified.

Their identities were given as Marcus, James Modiu, Alfred and Francis. The incident occurred barely two weeks after gunmen, clad in military camouflage, invaded Tanda Farm located in the same community, and abducted four persons, among who was a female, Olabiyi Ifeoluwa. Recall that Ifeoluwa and other employees were released after payment of N2 million and two cartoons of gin as ransom. The kidnappers had also warned Ifeoluwa to get married or they will take her when next they strike.

Following the spate of kidnap at farms in the community, farmers resorted to employing the services of some members of OPC as private guards. However, at about 7a.m. yesterday, while the unsuspecting workers were going about the business of the day, gunmen numbering over 15, stormed Eliasa Farm, located along Ishiwo Road and overpowered the private guards.

The victims were led through a bush path to four waiting speed boats in a canal, from where they were taken to an unknown destination.
