Local producers of agricultural machinery in Yobe said that farmers at the peak of the harvest season increased the demand for local machinery.

The manufacturers gave this expression in an interview with the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) at Damaturu on Wednesday.

Alhaji Ngogine My-Selder, a local producer, told NAS that the demand for threshing machines from farmers in the market was high.

“We developed some machines locally to separate the grain from the straw and husk,” said Mai-Selder.

In addition, Malam Ali Usman said that he had fabricated pickled and peanut threshers.

“The machine can tip a bag of corn within 15 minutes and 25 minutes using a small generator set.

“It has become a huge business because farmers buy them for personal use and rent to other farmers.

“Farmers in most villages no longer use manual labor to scatter crops, they hire cars from large farmers to work on their farms,” Ali said.

Another producer, Haruna Usman, told NAS that he was cooperating with other manufacturers in Potiskum to develop farmers, planters and harvesters until the next planting season.

“In Nigeria, agriculture is gradually taking a new dimension.

“We will use local technologies and materials to develop these machines until next year to increase production,” said Usman.

Meanwhile, most farmers expressed satisfaction with the use of machines to overturn crops.

Musa Bacoro, a farmer in Damatur, said that he used the machine to knock over his ground nuts, which was done quickly and save both the nuts and the leaves for animal feed. (NAN)
