The projected village of Igbeja-Snail should be 100,000 square meters of plant for breeding snails to group snail farms in one area with a capacity of at least 2.6 million kg of snails per year.

Speaking at the signing of the agreement, in Ibadan, on weekends, the founder of FarmKonnect Nigeria, Mr. Aziz Oluvol, acknowledged that the Igbeja project, upon completion of which is expected to become the largest street farm in Africa.

Oluvola added that the project, which is scheduled to be released in November, is expected to create a trade volume in excess of N5billion per year and make Nigeria a large exporter of snails by 2023.

“Igbeja Snail Village is an agricultural real estate project in which several people can work with their own snail breeding facilities.

“The concept is to bring together projects in the region with the goal of creating glamor around such projects, as well as opportunities for stakeholders to use administrative transaction costs and procedures.

“In addition to the important role in a focused agricultural production chain, Igbedja-White Village will also create more than 1,650 direct jobs and open up other areas of investment in the hospitality industry, tourism, art and culture, education, and real estate,” Oluvol explained.

He reiterated that there are other opportunities that can be explored by residents of Ekiti if the government fully encourages the participation of young people in agriculture, creating favorable policies and providing adequate support.

Speaking, President, MODAS, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi, stressed the importance of cooperatives investing in the agricultural sector.

He also pointed out the ability of cooperatives to use funds and embark on effective agricultural projects, thereby creating more jobs and other opportunities for young people in agriculture.
