Kano To Distribute Free Tomato Seeds Worth N200m To Farmers


The Kano State Government has disclosed that it will distribute qualitative tomato seeds worth N200 million to farmers during this year’s dry season farming at no cost.

This was disclosed by the state governor Dr Abdullahi Ganduje during the training and inauguration of national agricultural seed council’s seed inspectors held in Kano. According to him, the move was in line with attempts to sanitize the seed industry in ensuring good qualitative seeds reached farmers.

The governor further revealed that, the state government was ready to assist the council and farmers in ensuring that agricultural activities thrived.

In his address, the Director-General, National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC), Dr Olusegun Ojo, stated that, with the establishment of seed inspectors’ directorate, the council directed for the commencement of full scale surveillance and enforcement of the provision of the Seed Act.
