Fisheries, no doubt, are a profitable enterprise with a constantly growing market in Nigeria and a very untapped market at the international level.
I have been in the business of growing fish for five years, I would like to use this part to share some tips that are related to using a lucrative fish farm, using collapsible mobile tarpaulin ponds without the need to break the bank.
Quite frankly, the exploitation of a highly profitable fish farm assumes good thinking and the ability to make reasonable decisions that can help you to save.
This begins with the selection of a fish pond, which I will discuss in this article.

For many years (I think, hundreds of years), different types of fish ponds have evolved with newer types that improve them Predecessors.
The main thing was an earthen pond, but he had limitations that needed to be eliminated.
It is easily flooded with rain or overflowing the river (for those who are located on the banks of rivers).
In addition, since earthen ponds are difficult to locate in enclosed places, the owners suffered losses from poachers and thieves.
Concrete ponds appeared on board and became very popular for use in growing fish.
But again, specific ponds still had some problems associated with them.
Evolution was such, and we are finally in the era of canvas ponds, which currently make up more than 80 percent ponds in my farm (from 2016 they pass from concrete to pond canvas).
If you are considering buying or using a mobile pond for tarpaulins for your fish, I would give you an offer, but here are some tips for you (some 6 errors that you should avoid)
1. Insist on "reinforced tarpaulin".
This is the most important factor that you should take into consideration before deciding to use a mobile pond for tarpaulin for your farm.
There are different types of canvas that were on the market.
There are the usual ones used to create tents (for example, semi-permanent churches / scholarships and other event centers), there are those that are used in (which people rent for traditional marriages), and there
even other types used to create parking lots.
They all have different qualities and serve different purposes, and the one used for the fish pond is "reinforced tarpaulin". Fish ponds made from a different kind of canvas usually break down after two or three months or even earlier.
Simply put, if it's not a reinforced tarp, do not buy!
You can go online in Google and look for an "intensified pond for tarpaulins," and then find sellers.
However, since desperate sellers can still brandish their products as "reinforced tarpaulins," I will seek to recommend my own reliable online seller at the end of this part.
2. Avoid buying online markets
Internet markets can be good for other products, such as clothing, electronics, furniture, etc., but definitely not for folding mobile pond pond because of the ease of buying poor quality (unreinforced quality).
Most of the complaints about the fake canvas ponds that I received from the members of the various fish-breeding cooperatives that I trained – from people who bought their canvas ponds from online markets such as Gigi, Nairland, Jumia, Kong, etc.
It is usually easy to create accounts and join these trading platforms, so they can be filled with every volume, member and harry.
3. Buy a canvas fish pond and set it yourself (so it's cheaper).
Now this may sound a little more stressful, but what you can save at the end is worth it.
I'm a DIY man (Do It Yourself), and I never bought foam for tarpaulins from sellers who need to transport themselves, tarpaulins and galvanized pipes (or wood, bamboo or other materials that can be used for the canvas pond), right up to my place to make it all right. There is no need for such unnecessary cost and logistics.
From the experience of several people, I know that they initially tried to patronize such sellers in the past, you can save about N10,000 up to N15,000 per pond, if you buy tarpaulins and install them yourself.

4. Buy more and try to negotiate a discount if you buy in bulk
When buying up to five or more tarpaulins from a pond pond, it is good practice to ask for a discount. In my experience with Benuwatt, they almost always gave a discount or a bonus when we (I
and my members of the cooperative) bought wholesale.
If you intend to actually grow fish, you will need more than one canvas pond, so why not buy them right away and negotiate a little cut. Even if it's a 1% discount, it's something.
5. Less can be better
If, for example, you want to collect about 1000 soms before maturity and for this you need a pond for tarpaulin, you can go to the tarpaulin which capacity to hold 1000 tablets.
However, it is always advisable to have two or even three ponds at startup in order to be able to sort (or divide) your fish based on their size.
Otherwise, shoots (fish that grow faster than others) will start to feed on others.
Thus, instead of buying only one large tilted tented tent house for placing all your fish from fry / juveniles to the size of the table (adult size) you must buy two or three smaller tarpaulins so that you can sort in other tarpaulin ponds when the fry / adolescents grow.
Keep in mind, the more space the fish need to swim, the better the results that you will get by the size and weight of the fish for a fixed period of time.
6. Buy from a reliable supplier

The matter is that recently (approximately from the end of 2016) many people flooded the market with fake tarpaulin pans, and with this received a lot of complaints about mobile tarpaulin ponds (hence the drawback).
There are several people who complained about how they bought canvas ponds from several suppliers just for the ponds to collapse about two months.
I knew about mobile canvas ponds from 2012, when it was founded by the ponds of Benauts Branpa. But, as usual, Nigeria, any good product will soon be filled with imitations, torn by desperate, naughty or simply naive people.
If you really want to use a mobile canvas pond and enjoy it, do yourself a favor and avoid fakes.
